Dear Friends,
My husband Bob and I had the opportunity and blessing to attend the Ordination to the Transitional Deaconate last Saturday along with fellow parishioners Marie Elliott, Marianne Kane, Tony Basilio, and Rose Hearn. Together we were witness to the profound faith of these six men as they made their promise of celibacy, prayer, and obedience. I was moved to tears as these men then lay prostrate on the floor while the litany of the saints was sung and those of us present prayed silently for them. This was my first time ever attending a ceremony such as this and it had a profound impact on me. I was filled with an abundance of gratitude - gratitude for these young men for their YES to the Lord's call and for all of our current priests and deacons who also said YES! I thought of Deacon Madonna, Deacon Elliott (God rest his soul), and of our fellow parishioner Alan Haley who will soon celebrate his ordination to the permanent diaconate. I thought of Father Rogers, Father McCabe, Father Sharrett and all priests who have and continue to shepherd us. Thanks be to God for the gift of Priesthood and all Religious Vocations. Yet, even though not all of us are called to such vocations, I was reminded that we are all called to be disciples of Christ and to be witnesses of the Christian faith throughout our lives. As such, let us pray continuously for all priests, deacons, and all those called to religious life and for one another that we may all grow in holiness as the people of God. Let us pray especially for the six men who will be ordained as priests tomorrow and for our newly ordained deacons.
This Sunday we celebrate the Sixth Sunday of Easter and enter the final days of the Easter Season, which in total lasts 50 days. This Thursday will mark the 40th day of Easter when we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord, which is also a Holy Day of Obligation. The Mass schedule can be found below and all are welcome to celebrate with us. But, before we get there, let us first be opening to receiving and sharing the Lord's peace this Sunday. How many of us are constantly stressed? How many of us are carrying unseen burdens, anxiety or depression, trauma or addictions? How many of us are longing for peace?
Jesus' peace consists of unifying ourselves with God, our neighbors, and our very bodies. Jesus' peace does not mean a bland tolerance of "anything goes;" the peace of Jesus is one that fights for our souls, our freedom, and our redemption. He went to the Cross for us so that we might follow him on that path of dying and rising, to be born anew.
The "City of God," that St. John is describing in our passage from Revelation this week is this heavenly destination where no sun or moon is needed because "the glory of God gave it light, and its lamp was the Lamb" (Rev. 21:23). We will never have full and abiding peace on this side of heaven. But it is in the Church that God has established here on earth where we can receive forgiveness of our sins, community and fellowship, and the Bread of Life for the journey.

Our past seminarians Deacon Andrew Auletta and Deacon Ryan Nguyen will be ordained priests for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia this Saturday along with four other men. All people of good will are invited to participate in the Mass in-person or virtually. EXCITING NEWS JUST IN...
The 10th World Meeting of Families is set to take place this June in Rome, Italy and the theme is "Family Love: A Vocation and a Path to Holiness." Unlike the large crowds of millions attending this event in previous years, such as in Philadelphia back in 2015, only 2000 delegates are invited to attend as representation of each nation. All that said....WOW...our very own parishioners - the Owens Family - have been invited by the US Bishops to represent the United States. Not only do they represent our great nation, but they represent our community of Kennett Square and the parish family of St. Patrick! Congratulations to Damon, Melanie, and the entire Owens family! CYO SPRING TRACK & FIELD NEWS
The ABVM Regional CYO Track & Field Team, to include six of our St. Patrick Youth (Nathan & Olivia Owens, Idina Aranton, Emery Barnello, Ryan Mifsud, & Claire McGreevey), competed in the Region 17 Championships last Sunday, May 15. Congratulations to all athletes! Seven athletes qualified to compete in the Area A championships this Sunday, May 22. We wish them well and God Speed! A special word of thanks to St. Patrick parishioners and CYO Track & Field Coaches - Chris Curry, Michael Curry, Bob Keller & Dave Spence – for leading our youth this season. Job well done!

High school men (incoming Juniors to graduated Seniors) are invited to listen for God's voice and delve deeper in their faith by putting their faith into action and participating in Going Deeper, a 4-day service-oriented camp. This camp will be held from Sunday, July 24th through Thursday, July 28th.
Using Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati as our guide, this annual immersion experience will offer participants the opportunity to participate in various in key aspects of Frassati's life, including his love of the poor and service (charity), deep love of the Eucharist, and frienship/fellowship. Each day will include Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, Eucharistic Adoration, engaging talks and small group discussions. The camp is led by Philadelphia seminarians, priests, and deacons and is limited to 15 participants.
